Regina Ball: brief bio
Regina loves color! It makes her feel happy to see it come alive on the canvas. She enjoys seeing each bird take on a whimsical personality of its own. Regina was inspired by a humming bird flyby in her garden when she painted her first bird twelve years ago. Regina comes by her desire to paint via genetics: her mother’s mother is an avid painter at age 90. Regina is a full-time painter and mother. She lives in the Seattle area with her musician-husband, Steve and her four year old daughter, Sofie. The colorful birds in this collection are all acrylic on canvas. The names of these singing birds represent the alternate baby names Regina and Steve had considered before “Sofie” emerged as the true identity of their new daughter. Rather than simply let these alternate names disappear into silent history, Regina began painting a series of birds to represent each of the potential spirits that Sofie might have become had she been assigned the essence associated with these colorful names.
